How it works

From an idea to an incorporated company.

A guided application that turns Companies House requirements into plain-English questions, with help available when you need it.

01

Check and choose your name

We search active and legally equivalent names on the official Companies House register, then flag common naming risks.

02

Tell us about your company

Add your directors, shareholders, registered office, share structure and business activity in one secure flow.

03

We review and file

A formation specialist checks the application before it is submitted, then your incorporation documents appear in your account.

A more careful name check

Availability is more than an exact match.

Companies House can reject or later challenge names for several reasons. We show the important checks early, before you invest in a brand.

Read the official naming rules
01

“Same as” names

Punctuation, common words and lookalike characters may still count as the same registered name.

02

“Too like” names

A company may be directed to change its name after a successful complaint.

03

Sensitive words

Words implying authority, status or a government connection can require prior approval.

04

Trade marks

Company registration does not grant trade mark protection; that needs a separate check.

Common questions

A few things founders ask us.

Still unsure? Our formation support team can help you choose the right route.

Email formation support
Is Lincroft part of Companies House?+

No. Lincroft is an independent formation service. Applications are submitted to Companies House, which makes the final incorporation decision.

Does an available result guarantee the name?+

No automated search can guarantee acceptance. The result checks active and legally equivalent names; “too like”, sensitive-word and trade mark issues may still apply.

What information will I need?+

Usually your proposed name, registered office and email, at least one director and shareholder, people with significant control, share details and a SIC code.

How long does registration take?+

Companies House says online applications are usually registered within 24 hours. Some applications take longer if additional checks are required.

Is the Companies House fee included?+

Yes. The sample package prices on this page include the current £100 online incorporation fee.
